This gorgeous wedding, which took place on the Skansonia, a retired ferry boat on Seattle’s Lake Union, was just overflowing with love. I first met Drew and Elise back in Berkeley for their engagement shoot, and I noticed immediately that they are an extremely loving, playful, gentle and heartful match. Their spring wedding day reflected them perfectly — elegant and simple at once, bright and glowy, and bursting with love.
Seattle is a notoriously fickle place for weather, especially in the early spring, and we were unsure about the forecast until hours before the ceremony. In the morning it was cold, windy, and raining. But as soon as I left to see the bride and groom for the first time, the entire city seemed to break through the storm clouds, and we had a perfectly sun-soaked afternoon and evening.
The Skansonia is a beautiful, old ship, loaded with memorabilia and gadgets from its former life. And the ferry itself points directly across Lake Union at the amazing Seattle skyline.
This incredible couple invited me to come with them to San Francisco City Hall for their civil ceremony. It was a total honor to be there with them, and I loved capturing the moments, the absolute delight, the true and deep love between them and the friends and family who had come to bear witness to their day. Christoph’s family even Skyped in from Germany to be present for the wedding. After the ceremony, we went to Oakland for portraits. A magical afternoon all around.
This beautiful couple is getting married in June, and I absolutely can’t wait to photograph their wedding!
